WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM SUNDAY?
Nobody has anything to fear or anything to prove at Generations. The gospel creates a safe, non-accusatory environment for sinners like us to consider our lives before God... where we've been, where we find ourselves, and where we're heading. None of us are finished products so we all need space to breathe, time to figure things out and a way to know we're making progress. Sundays at Generations are about creating space, making time, racalibrating and centering on the gospel.
You should expect to be honored as our guest by being given the freedom to participate on Sunday morning in ways that are comfortable for you and without pressure from us. Most importantly, you should expect to encounter the real Jesus in a meaningful way.
WHAT IS THE SERVICE LIKE?
When you walk inside you will be warmly welcomed. Coffee will be available if you're still waking up and there are signs to direct you to our gathering and where you can sign in kids for Next Generation (our children's ministry). Children stay with the adults for the first 20-25 minutes while we sing, but don't let that stress you out. We have a lot of young kids, so if that's you, you'll blend right in.
We start with a reading from Scripture and prayer, followed by 4 worship songs. We will then make some announcements before releasing the children and volunteers to go to their classes. That is followed by the message, always from the bible, always for your growth and encouragement, always authentic, always about Jesus.
We respond to the gospel each Sunday in worship, by singing another song and receiving the Lord's Supper, which is open to any person who belongs to Christ by faith.
WHAT IS WORSHIP LIKE?
We embrace both the rich hymns from generations past and more current worship songs from our own day. Here is a sampling of songs we've sung in the last month, just to give you an idea:
- Lord, I Need You
- Soul on Fire
- Salvation is Here
- Forever Reign
- You Never Let Go
- We Believe
- At The Cross (Love Ran Red)
- In Christ Alone
- Great Are You Lord (All Sons and Daughters)
- The Old Rugged Cross (I Am Free)
WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
Next Generation (children's ministry) serves babies who can walk through elementary school and shares the same mission as Generations: To glorify God through lives that are being transformed by the gospel. We want to see our kids' lives shaped by the beauty and glory of Jesus, the love of the Father, and His delight in them.
Each child will hear bible lessons designed for their age group in a fun, enriching environment where they can flourish. Their experience will be hands on, grace-filled, age-appropriate and Christ-exalting. Your kids will bring home related crafts and memory verses designed to foster conversations at home with you as parents. Our hope is to make talk about Jesus an expected and exciting part of your family's life together.
