1 Corinthians 16:13 - “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.”
Watchmen is the Men's Ministry which includes our once-a-month gathering of all our men for a meal and time of interaction where they can be strengthened, encouraged, challenged and equipped to take responsibility for own souls, our marriages, families, careers, calling and for the gospel. In this environment, men are challenged to build every part of their lives on the only firm foundation of Jesus Christ, and to relentlessly defend what God has called them to build (i.e. marriage, family, career, ministry, etc.) understanding that our individual flesh patterns, the surrounding culture and Satan himself will conduct an all-out assault on our lives and our loved ones.
Watchmen is about men honestly assessing their own condition and struggles being real about what we are seeing around us. We believe the biblical principle of male headship in the home and in the church is designed by God and rooted in creation (Genesis 2-3, 1 Timothy 2) not just in ancient culture. Therefore, the specific call of God on men applies to all peoples, times and cultures. Men are responsible to lead and accountable to God for the condition of their inner lives, their marriages, their children and their church.
We believe that many of the problems in any human society is the result of men either passively rejecting that responsibility or actively abusing that responsibility. Both of these extremes lead to devastating effects.
At Generations, we are deeply devoted to helping men fulfill the biblical call on their lives, following in the example of the only perfect man and our only example, Jesus Christ. This means we want to call men and lead them into lives defined by humility and service to others (their wives and children in particular). We want to see marriages and whole families experiencing the transformative blessing of godly husbands and fathers and to hold men accountable where they are failing to live as biblical men, submitted to Jesus.

The church is not where we go, it's who we are. The church is first and foremost the sent people of God on the mission of God.
God has deposited a variety of gifts in each one of you and His desire is to employ those talents and passions to bless others and worship Jesus. Unfortunately, there seems to be a sense of entitlement and consumerism that is pervasive in evangelical circles today. This leads many Christians to believe, at least functionally, that the church exists to serve their needs and desires, which in turn leads churches to create dozens of programs to provide adequate “supply” for the widespread “demands” of their “customers”.
Because the bible calls us to humility, which says “how can I serve others” rather than “serve my needs”, we expect sacrifice and service to flow out of a gospel-centered life. Our responsibility and our heart as a church is to serve you and our city well. Part of how we want to serve you is helping to identify your gifts and release you to serve the Kingdom effectively. The following are opportunities to serve, so if you see an area you want to know more about or if you have a heart to serve in ways not listed here, register for or login to The City and start a conversation... We want to help get you involved.

| Generations Next (Children's Ministry) |
| The name of our church, Generations, is rooted in God’s heart expressed clearly throughout scripture regarding the importance of intergenerational relationships. Deuteronomy 6:7-9, Psalm 78, Psalm 145, Malachi 4, Ephesians 5, Titus 2 and much of the book of Proverbs are just a few texts that communicate our responsibility for modeling and teaching children to honor and worship God with their whole lives and leaving a legacy that teaches future generations to do the same.
We believe, like ancient Israel, that the people of God are most effectively multiplied and sustained through the vehicle of family. Functionally, this means we include children and youth in every thing we can as a church. At a time when "life-stage ministry" is normative, our vision begins with children participating in corporate worship at our gatherings alongside their parents. Though we will offer excellent care for infants during the entire service, this means we may have a crying or giggling toddler from time to time. We believe this honors God as we invite children to be an integrated part of our body which allows them to learn how to worship from their parents and other adults who love them and love Jesus.
During preaching and teaching, we offer kids Preschool through 6th grade age appropriate material that allows them to learn about Jesus, the bible, and how to apply the gospel to their lives even at their early age. We have a firm conviction that children have a unique capacity not only to know and love Jesus, but to encourage each other through the power of the Holy Spirit and to minister to and teach us as adults. In our understanding of kingdom dynamics, children play an important role (Psalm 8:2) that we must pay attention to and release, so we are committed to training them and giving them opportunity to apply what they learn. |

Start building community right where you are...
One of our core values at Generations is creating authentic community, which we know is much easier said than done. Because building healthy relationships is central to our calling as the people of God we want to create as many contexts as possible for relationships to develop. We want to invite everybody who is interested in Generations to join us on The City, a tool that helps us leverage technology for the purpose of building community. The City also functions as our primary means of communication regarding events, prayer and general announcements, both related to small groups and service teams and the larger church community. In short, we use The City to simplify communication and to connect people to people so that relationships flourish for our own good and for God’s glory.

| Our Home Groups are intended to create a context for transformational life exchange. These groups provide the best opportunity for people to engage in discipleship, accountability, support and mission. At this point, all of our groups are intentionally designed to be multigenerational and to cross life stage boundaries. Our hope is that you will find a group in close proximity to where you live so that you will be able to share life with people in your home group far beyond meeting with them once a week to do bible study. Our conviction at Generations is that the gospel is most effectively formed in us as we live in community with people that know one another deeply and personally with all of our warts and weaknesses, and who love one another with both grace and truth so that we are all growing in Christlikeness. We study scripture, confess and repent of sin, share struggles, pray pray for each otherand exhort one another with the gospel. These groups are the primary vehicle for mission as each community adopts a specific mission focus, which allows people to fulfill their calling as the sent people of God.

| Generation Next (Student Ministry) |
| In our understanding of biblical ecclesiology, there is no precedent for the traditional youth ministry that exists in most Western churches. That is not to reject the idea that teenagers face challenges that are unique to their life stage. However, we do reject the perceived necessity of traditional youth ministry in our culture because we are convinced that a teenager can learn more about being a mature, godly adult from a mature, godly adult than they can from a fellow teenager.
That is not to say we discourage peer relationships between students, but rather to say that we have a vision for a corporate culture where each and every responsible, Christian adult is intentionally investing in the life of at least 1 student. We know that on the average, adults are actually intimidated by teenagers and avoid them altogether if possible. This approach is not bearing good fruit.
Though we were alienated from God, much like teens are alienated from adults, Jesus didn’t avoid humanity in our lost condition, but he pursued us, loved us, served us, rescued us and paid the highest price for us to be connected to our Creator. Because Jesus is our example, we believe that adults in general, and men and fathers in particular, bear the responsibility to pursue, love, serve and pay whatever price necessary to lead younger generations to Jesus, which is the only way they can be reconciled to God. This type of intentional interaction between generations forces us as adults to rightly be accountable for our life as we influence teenagers which produces humility as we serve and learn from individuals younger than us. Because of their shared influence on us in the context of these relationships, students allow us to remain connected to emerging culture so that we are not rendered ineffective in pushing the gospel forward.
This means that students are integrated into every aspect of Generations. We expect that teenagers will participate and even lead in such areas as worship, audio/video, children’s ministry and small groups. We take very seriously Paul’s admonition to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12, and we believe in their capacity and expect our young people to set an example for us as adults in life, in love, in speech, in faith and in purity.
