| Vision, Mission and Model of Ministry | |
The Great Commission dictates our Vision18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 Our vision is to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to multiply missional communities among our neighbors and the nationsThe Great Commandment determines our Mission29Jesus answered, "The foremost is, 'Hear, o Israel! The Lord our God is one Lord; 30and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' 31"The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." Mark 12:29-31 Our mission is to glorify God through lives transformed by the gospel as we are compelled to:
Love God enough to obey himKnow Jesus enough to follow himTrust the Holy Spirit enough to let him use usLove people enough to serve themRisk everything to advance the KingdomThe Great Shepherd is our Model20Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Our approach to life and ministry as the body of Christ is patterned after Jesus' life and ministry. Our aim is not simply to make converts or increase attendance but to make mature, disciples of Christ who, by definition, also make disciples of Christ. Our conviction is that Jesus is the best model for how to do that and his example calls us to the following emphases in our ministry:Incarnation over AttractionDepth over WidthSacrifice over ConsumerismMission over MarketingSpirit over Strategy
